| New expectations for the smart home in 2022 |

Smart home can be regarded as the sci-fi theme closest to reality. However, there are always issues that keep hitting it back to the not-so-beautiful real world. 2022 gives us hope yet again - a truly simple, smart smart home.
Hope 'Matter' really works (Matter will finally matter)
The new smart home standard, Matter, is long overdue. Project CHIP was first announced in late 2019 and was subsequently renamed Matter by the CSA Alliance, a technology that lets smart home devices connect and work together.
As strange as it may sound, Matter is really "again" a universal protocol for connecting devices. Matter is often paired with Thread, which is the Thread of the smart home wireless communication technology. It can be understood that Thread builds a communication channel (telephone), and Matter protocol (language) is transmitted in it.
Simplified setup
The final release of Matter should bring you a newer, faster, and simpler way to set up the system and bind devices. Google also proposed a similar concept at this year's CES - Google QuickPair. Every Matter-enabled device should do this.
Ideally - when you open the box, put the device on and power it up, whether it's a light bulb, thermostat, camera, or smart speaker, your phone or other smart home device should recognize them immediately, and you can use the most Simple methods such as one click to complete the settings.
More screens
Many people like smart screens. Google might as well learn the Echo Show to make a bigger smart screen. We look forward to a future where we can see all kinds of information on screens everywhere, when we look at the mirror in the bathroom, walk down the hall, or cook in the kitchen.
Less apps
This is also what Matter said to achieve. However, it doesn't necessarily work out completely, at least not at launch!
Better voice control
Can I not be asked to remember the exact name of the device when I issue a voice command?
One of the biggest frustrations in the smart home comes from voice control. While it's meant to make controls easier, and it often does, the voice commands often require me to remember the exact command, and it's not easy to remember.
Appropriate name
A different unique name can greatly reduce the probability of false triggers.
Most smart assistants give you at most a few names to choose from. Usually, users face Google, or Siri, and cannot change the names of these "assistants" at will.
Finally, please, be really "smart"
All of these smart home devices are collecting data, including our usage habits. Can we use our heart to let the device learn and feel our habits?
Could this data be used, for example, to allow the device to automatically learn your habits through custom algorithms? In the future, we can use more sensors to match these scenarios to achieve a higher level of intelligence.
Nest's thermostats have been trying this for years. I often find it automatically adjusts the temperature to find a more efficient setting while keeping the indoor environment comfortable.
Google implements a "come home & leave home" scenario in the Google Home App, usually calling the Nest thermostat. For example, after leaving home, set the thermostat to leave mode, or automatically preheat or pre-cool on time. I hope this expands to more devices than just Google.
Matter should make this more tangible, covering my entire wish list above. I couldn't be more excited about this possibility. I hope that all this will not rekindle my hope again and then extinguish it.
